Barbara A. Burr is alawyer specializing in family matters. She has many years of experience representing men and women in all aspects of domestic relations law, from divorce and custody to property distribution and financial support. After several years of representing clients in traditional round-table negotiation, mediation and litigation, she received her first collaborative training in 2006 and has been building her collaborative practice ever since. In addition to representing parties in family matters, Barb also seves as a mediator, helping parties resolve family disputes, and is a frequent lecturer and trainer of collaborative practice and mediation. Barb is a founding member and the first President of the DC Association of Collaborative Professionals and a founding member of Collaborative Practice Training Institute. She also is member of the Collaborative Dispute Resolution Professionals, located in Montgomery County, Maryland. Barb received her law degree with honors from Harvard Law School and a bachelor's degree with honors from the University of Washington. She previously received certification as a CPA. Prior to family law, Barb clerked for the Chief Judge of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and served as a civil rights attorney for close to a dozen years, first with the United States Department of Justice and then with the National Women's Law Center.
